What is an autoimmune disease?

Autoimmune diseases are defined as a malfunction of the immune system. Immune systems, in which the body's own structures - cells and organs - are attacked. This leads to a wide variety of clinical pictures, from Type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis through to psoriasis and rheumatism. Autoimmune diseases are among the fastest growing diseases of our time. Leaky gut syndrome is one of the main causes of the development of autoimmune diseases.

What is leaky gut syndrome?

Leaky gut syndrome is damage to the intestinal mucosa. It can be a serious cause of many chronic diseases. Most are considered incurable, such as allergies and autoimmune diseases.

What causes leaky gut syndrome?

We eat many plants that have been part of our diet for centuries, but which have caused health problems in recent decades. You might ask yourself: if they didn't cause illness in the past, why do they cause health problems in some people today?

The answer lies in modern eating habits: Additives in food and lack of fermentation (Sourdough breadtraditional cooking and preparation methods).

For example, the gluten and FODMAP content of Triticum cereals is clearly harmful to the intestinal mucosa. The protein WGA (lectin with antigenic effect) in wheat, barley and rye triggers autoimmune reactions. Together, these substances cause leaky gut syndrome. They only lose their damaging, inflammatory and intestinal epithelial cell-damaging effect during fermentation. Without fermentation, they have a so-called "tight junction" effect: they destroy the junctions between the enterocytes.

How long does fermentation take?

In real sourdough bread, fermentation takes 8-16 hours. In modern, commercially available breads with additives, all these substances are absorbed by the intestinal wall without biochemical change and in unchanged form.

The body tries to compensate for this and develops a defence strategy, e.g. it protects the enterocytes with a thicker glycocalyx layer if it can produce this protective "sugar coat".

How does the gut protect itself?

Inflammation is always encoded by sugars, for example by the outer lipopolysaccharide layer of gram-negative bacteria or the glycoprotein structure (sugar protein) of plant lectins. This is why the intestine protects the enterocytes with its own "glycocalyx", a sugar coat. It is a protective shield of sugar against the inflammatory effects.
In the layer of water that protects the intestinal wall, the intestine produces a layer of mucus that contains useful nutrients. Intestinal bacteria contains.

Fulvicherb-Synergy helps to restore the intestinal microbiome and thus helps with Histamine intolerance.

The integrity of the intestine

The integrity of the gut is a very important factor in maintaining balance in the body. The integrity of the gut ensures that what needs to be absorbed is absorbed.

The mucosal cells on the surface of the intestinal mucosa, the enterocytes, have an independent function. They live for 10-14 days, are born and die. At the age of 1-5 days, they produce intestinal fluid through secretory activity, which is important for good digestion. At the age of 5-10 days, they ensure absorption activity.

The exopeptidases on the brush border of the enterocytes are very important enzymes. In lactose intolerance, the enzyme lactase is not produced on the surface of the damaged enterocytes. If the enterocytes are damaged, the entire digestion and absorption process is impaired.

Intestinal circulation, i.e. the opening of the microcapillaries in the intestinal ducts, is very important for the development and proper functioning of the enterocytes. If a person suffers from high blood pressure, for example, the microcapillaries throughout the body can no longer open, including in the intestinal ducts. This is where Fulvicherb-Synergy comes into play in the elimination of leaky gut syndrome, as it has a very remarkable effect by stimulating NO production.

Fulvicherb-Synergy is very helpful in the production of these two protective layers, the intact enterocytes can produce a large and thick sugar coat. By inhibiting the proliferation of harmful intestinal bacteria and through the nourishing effect of the Apple pectin The defence mechanism of the mucus layer is significantly improved by the effect of the mucus on the beneficial intestinal bacteria.

What does SIBO have to do with nitric oxide?

SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth and refers to a bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine. SIBO is the most common cause of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and one of the most overlooked and under-diagnosed conditions. SIBO also contributes to leaky gut syndrome.

At the junction of the small intestine and the large intestine there is a valve known as the ileocecal valve (or Bauhin valve). It is a smooth muscle-activated valve that prevents the bacteria-rich (and very differently composed) contents of the large intestine from being reabsorbed into the small intestine, which is specifically low in bacteria and has a different composition. If this valve fails, the result is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome.

This destroys the protective layers of the small intestine. This manifests itself in flatulence after eating.

Fulvicherb-Synergy helps the ileocecal valve to function properly. (The Fulvic acidArginine-complex in Fulvicherb also helps the very small smooth muscles to function properly. It also has a positive effect on the Reflux by influencing the function of the oesophageal sphincter and the diaphragm).

If everyone ate real sourdough bread without additives, there probably wouldn't be so many people with gluten intolerance. The general condition of the intestinal wall would be much better.

If a person with a healthy gut microbiome occasionally eats pasta or baked goods that have not undergone a fermentation process, the gut's good defence mechanism of sugar coating and mucus layer will protect the integrity of the gut wall.
