Brown rice from Hungary – gluten-free wholegrain rice with a low arsenic content

Brown rice made from Hungarian rice. This brown wholegrain rice is naturally gluten-free and retains the outer layer and the germ of the rice grain. As a result, it has more bite, a stronger flavour and a fuller texture than white rice.

The rice comes from Hungary and offers a European alternative to many rice products from countries further afield. It is particularly suitable for anyone who, when it comes to rice, Hungarian origin, wholemeal character, firm texture and low arsenic content pay attention to.

Hearty wholegrain rice for savoury dishes

Brown rice goes particularly well with dishes where the rice is meant to be more than just a neutral side dish. As the outer layer is retained, it offers a firmer bite, a slightly nutty flavour and a richer texture.

It is ideal for vegetable stir-fries, rice bowls, lentil and bean dishes, roasted vegetables, mushroom dishes, salads and hearty side dishes. Thanks to its firmer texture, it retains its shape better than white rice after cooking.

Use in the kitchen

You can use brown rice in bowls, rice salads, vegetable dishes, stews, stuffed vegetables, bakes and heartier side dishes. It goes well with pulses, mushrooms, roasted vegetables, herbs, tomato sauces, curry dishes and Mediterranean vegetable stir-fries.

As a wholegrain rice, it is particularly well suited to a diet focused on fibre, where natural grains, gluten-free side dishes and simple, basic ingredients play a major role.

Method

Wash the brown rice thoroughly before cooking. Then cook it in plenty of water with a little salt, and either drain it or leave it to soak, covered, with the right amount of water.

The cooking time is longer than for white rice and, depending on the method, is often around 35–45 minutes. For bowls and salads, the rice should not be cooked until it is too soft, so that the grains retain their texture.

Origin and low arsenic content

This brown rice is made from Hungarian rice. Its European origin makes it a good choice for anyone who values traceable origins and reliable quality when it comes to gluten-free staple ingredients.

In rice products, the arsenic content is an important quality indicator. The rice base used has a low arsenic content and is therefore well suited to a health-conscious, gluten-free diet.
