Description

Inulin is a Soluble dietary fibrewho has a Prebiotic function has. It promotes the growth of healthy intestinal bacteria, supports digestion and can strengthen the immune system. Ideal for improving intestinal health. Thanks to its versatility, inulin can be easily integrated into smoothies, yoghurt or baked goods.

What is inulin?

Inulin

Inulin is a plant polysaccharide that belongs to the group of fructans. Some plants store energy in the form of inulin, especially in roots and rhizomes. Inulin is a complex sugar or polysaccharide consisting of long fructose chains. It is a water-soluble, indigestible plant fibre and is found in large quantities in chicory, Jerusalem artichokes, artichokes, sweet potatoes, bananas, asparagus and onions.

Inulin is important and indispensable for the health of the digestive tract.
Intestinal health is determined by the condition of the intestinal mucosa and the composition of the bacteria living in the intestine. It creates homeostasis and harmony, which affect the entire organism, or can cause disease by disrupting this balance.

Apple pectin and inulin are prebiotics. They are resistant to digestive enzymes and reach the large intestine in unchanged form. In the Large intestine they stimulate the multiplication of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal flora and at the same time inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria.

Health role

Inulin molecular structure

Fibre is important for our health. If we do too little Dietary fibre eating, diseases and problems with the intestines can occur. The Immune system and the intestinal flora work together to protect our body from harmful substances.

It is very important that our microbiome receives the nutrients it needs every day. They help the healthy epithelial cells of the small intestine (enterocytes) and the epithelial cells of the large intestine (colonocytes) to function properly. They support the development of a well-functioning microbiome (intestinal flora). They promote the elimination of harmful, toxin-producing, so-called gram-negative (LPS) bacteria and fungi. Good (eubiotic) bacteria ensure the protection, proper permeability and balance of the intestinal mucosa.

In recent years, we have learnt more and more about the important role of a healthy microbiome for the functioning of the entire body.
The immune system of the digestive tract is often referred to as GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue). Around 70 % of the immune system are localised in the digestive tract. GALT consists of different types of lymphoid tissue that produce and store immune cells that attack pathogens.

Inulin with synergistic active ingredients

Pectin, as a water-soluble fermentable dietary fibre, and Inulin, as a resistant carbohydrateplay an important role for the Balance of the intestinal immune system. Fermentable dietary fibre support the intestinal defence system, prevent diseases and help the immune system of the intestinal mucosa to function properly.
The mucous membrane and epithelial cells of the intestine prevent unwanted molecules and pathogens from entering the lymphatic and bloodstream.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) are chronic and recurrent inflammatory diseases of the gut. Symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, weight loss, fatigue, anaemia and extraintestinal symptoms (including various inflammatory skin conditions, arthritis) have a significant impact on quality of life.

The incidence of UC and CD has increased worldwide over the last 50 years, particularly in developing and westernised countries. Chronic and recurrent inflammatory bowel diseases are the result of a complex interplay of immunological, microbial and environmental factors, which makes the development of a specific therapy an important task.
An important part of the therapy is the treatment of dysfunctions of the intestinal wall and the immune system (autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, Crohn's disease, IBSulcerative colitis).

Improving intestinal wall function by increasing fibre intake can be an effective strategy for Prevention of diseases be.
